Atlas Obscura Lecture: Steamships and Sternwheelers

Join Atlas Obscura Society Seattle and Ed Brown, maritime historian and Virginia V deckhand, for an evening exploring the storied history of the Mosquito Fleet! Ed will share a collection of historic photographs and fascinating tales of the Mosquito Fleet era, spanning the 1850s to the 1930s. After the lecture, guides will be on hand to offer tours of the Virginia V and attendees will be able to spend some casual time hanging out on the ship, enjoying views of Lake Union.

Itinerary:

  • 7:00 pm - Doors opens for check-in
  • 7:30 pm - Lecture begins
  • 8:15 pm - Guests free to explore ship and enjoy refreshments
  • 9:30 pm - Vessel closes

  • $35/person + tax

Dockside

For most of the year, the S.S. Virginia V is docked on the southern bank of Lake Union. Our home port is easy to find behind the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) just past the antique steam clock.
