STEM Sailing and Robotics Camp
(Spring session)

April 21 - June 9, 2018
Saturdays, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
No class Saturday, May 5th

Grades 6-8 (girls only)

In partnership with Frog Prints e! and The Center for Wooden Boats, this weekend program is a fantastic opportunity for girls interested science and outdoor adventure. Students will conduct scientific investigations into buoyancy and wind power, learn to sail and navigate the waters of Lake Union, explore the history of the Virginia V and the science behind her steam engine, and work in teams to build their own aquatic robots! Students may opt to enroll in the full session or select between the sailing or robotics and Virginia V portions.

Costs

  • $590 for the full program (or $350 for Virginia V & robotics section, $240 for the sailing section)
  • Need-based scholarships available

Drama on Deck Camp

August 6 - 10, 2018
Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Students entering grades 3-5

Join the SS VIRGINIA V and Seattle Children's Theatre to experience what it was like to be member of the legendary mosquito fleet. Inspired by the vibrant history of the Virginia V, we'll turn the ship into a stage and create a performance piece that takes place all over the vessel. We'll also try our hand at the wide variety of Virginia V crew jobs, take a boat ride with the Center for Wooden Boats, and visit the Museum of History & Industry to learn about Seattle's rich maritime history. On Friday we'll perform for friends and family, immersing the audience in our adventure.

Costs

  • $390 per student for the week
  • Each student receives one adult and one youth ticket to a Virginia V public cruise as part of camp registration
  • Registration opens in February 2018

Seafaring Adventure Camp

August 13 - 17, 2018
Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Students entering grades 3-5

Welcome aboard for an action-packed week at Lake Union Park with MOHAI, The Center for Wooden Boats, Northwest Seaport, and the SS VIRGINIA V. This week-long camp takes place on land and in boats on the waters of Lake Union. Campers explore life on board a ship, and plunge into the science of steam powered engines, navigation, and model sailboat building. Don’t miss the fun!

Costs

  • $375 per student for the week

In partnership with Frog Prints e! and The Center for Wooden Boats, this two-week summer camp is a fantastic opportunity for girls interested science and outdoor adventure. Students will conduct scientific investigations into buoyancy and wind power, learn to sail and navigate the waters of Lake Union, explore the history of the Virginia V and the science behind her steam engine, and work in teams to build their own aquatic robots! Families may opt to enroll in the full two-week session or choose between the sailing (8/13-8/17) or robotics and Virginia V (8/20-8/24) weeks.

Costs

  • $870 for the full program (or $450 for Virginia V & robotics section, $420 for the sailing section)
  • Early-bird discounts and need-based scholarships available
