Announcing a Transition in Leadership
To the VIRGINIA V Community:
It is with a mixture of celebration and sadness, that we announce that Heron Scott, our Executive Director for the past six years, has accepted a position with the Port Townsend School of Woodworking. Heron’s last day with the Foundation will be Friday, October 25th 2019.
The members of the VIRGINIA V Foundation Board of Trustees are greatly indebted to Heron for his exemplary leadership, tireless organization, and sincere dedication to the VIRGINIA V mission, the officers, crew, staff, volunteers, and passengers. In his time with the Foundation, Heron has strengthened the educational, marketing, and fundraising aspects of operation, secured funding for the long-term preservation of VIRGINIA V, and achieved an exceptional level of fiscal and operational stability.
The Executive Director job posting is now on our website here. We will be sharing this opportunity widely and invite you to share the posting within your networks. The Board has appointed Douglas Weeks (doug@virginiav.org) to assemble and lead the search committee.
During this time of transition, the Board will also enlist Heron’s assistance for personnel training, scheduling adjustments, and business operations. You are encouraged to contact me (naltman@nventure.com) with suggestions, questions, and concerns.
Respectfully,
Nina Marie Altman
The Virginia V Foundation, Vice-President/Acting President of the Board
